Dr Deravi's Accomplishments
Increased Center's staff from 4 to 15 full time employees.
Added several subsidiary units-Economic Development,
Institute for Educational Excellence, and Advanced
Training Group.
Some Noteworthy Achievements

Designed and led the research team conducting the economic
impact of Honda, Boeing, and Mercedes-Benz on Alabama economy.

Designed the methodology and led the research team to
perform a cost impact of regulatory changes
for the childcare industry in Alabama. Surveyed more
than 4000 daycare providers and
a sample of childcare users to estimate price elasticity
of demand and supply. The results were submitted to the Alabama Department
of Human Resources.

Surveyed more than 5000 manufacturing firms in Alabama
to evaluate the training needs for labor in various markets. I worked
extensively with the local chambers of
commerce to coordinate the survey process at the local levels. The
results were submitted to the Alabama Department of Economics and Community
Affairs.

Worked with Baker and McKenzie on HR1164. My contribution
was to estimate the economic impact of steel plant closure throughout
the United States.
